6 Great Places for Local and Craft Beer in Tacoma, WA

The development in the American craft beer industry in recent decades has changed the way that we enjoy alcoholic beverages in this country. Instead of only having a selection of lagers and light beers to choose from, there is now a huge range of delicious beer styles available. We have some fantastic spots in the local area where you can stop and grab a cold stein, but remember to always drink responsibly and with moderation, and never drink and drive.

1. Peaks and Pints Beer Store, Taproom & Eatery

The Peaks and Pints store is a great place to enjoy a beer, up pick up a case to take home. They have an awesome selection of beers to choose from, and their food menu is also delicious. We really like the Banana Bread beer from the Eagle Brewery, as well as Wolf IPA from Narrows.

2. Black Fleet Brewing

This is a great spot to pick up your beer to go or enjoy a delicious pint of beer that has been brewed on site. Find them on Jefferson Avenue and enjoy their nautical-themed beer names! We especially enjoy the Freebooter’s Dunkel Weissbier, which features the typical wheat beer flavours of banana and clove spice alongside a robust malty character.

3. Pint Defiance Specialty Beers & Taproom

Visit Pint Defiance on Mildred Street West to enjoy a fantastic selection of beers that are available to drink in and to takeaway. The staff here are hugely knowledgeable, so if you are not sure what to order, then just ask for some help. There is always a great atmosphere, and it’s super comfortable.

4. Edison City Alehouse

Enjoy the rotating selection of beers at this South Lawrence Street bar. They have a great happy hour offer and also have an unusually large selection of ciders to choose from. There is no menu available at regular times, but a food truck stops by on weekends.

5. North 47 Brewing

This brewery and taproom does a delicious tasting flight so you can get to grips with a range of the beers they brew. Try the Elated Slug, it’s a delicious bitter with great balance. They also work to raise funds for local charities in the community

6. Dystopian State Brewing

This is a really beautiful taproom and a great brewery. Pick a flight of beers to try a few different brews or just settle in with a pint. There are a good number of board games to play if you are looking for some entertainment. Try the Oatmeal Stout for a punchy dark beer that is full of flavour.

There are no shortage of great joints to visit to enjoy a cool beer. There are some great breweries with taprooms as well as amazing bars with fantastic selections of beers available.
